Surah Naas (Mankind): Holy Quran 114:1-6
Transliteration English Translation
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Qul 'a-'uuzu bi Rabbin Naas, (114:1) Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (114:1)
Malikin-Naas, (114:2) The King of mankind, (114:2)
'Illahin-Naas, (114:3) The God of mankind, (114:3)
Min-sharril Waswaasil khan Nass, -- (114:4) From the evil of the sneaking whisperer, (114:4)
'Allazii yuwas-wisu fii suduurin Naasi, -- (114:5) Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind, (114:5)
Minal-Jinnati wan Naas. (114:6) Of the jinn and of mankind. (114:6)

Part 1: Wisdoms from the first ayat

"In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful! "Qul a'udhu bi-Rabbi'n-naas (Say I seek refuge with the Sustainer of the people)". That is to say that, I keep myself protected and peaceful in the refuge of the Majestic Sustainer, Who has the absolute power of nourishing and sustaining the people physically, spiritually and intellectually (i.e., at the level of Light). And the intellectual bounties (at the level of Light) come from pre-eternal treasures, for the supreme fountainhead of sustainership lies there."

Part 2: Wisdoms from the second and third aya

" "Maliki'n-naas, Ilaahi'n-Naas (the King of men, the God of men)". Here in the word "Malik" (King) is alluded the great importance of the Divine laws, and in the name Ilaah (the Worshipped One), is drawn special attention to worship. This means that without following Divine laws and without worshipping God in the true sense, no one can receive protection in His presence."

Part 3: Wisdoms from the fourth ayat

" "Min sharri'l-waswasi'l-khannas (and from the evil of the sneaking whisperer)". Waswas (whisperer) and khannaas (sneaking) are among the names of Satan, and all deceitful flowery discourses of the devils from among mankind and jinn (6:112) are included in the whispering (waswasah) of Satan."

Part 4: Wisdoms from the fifth and sixth aya

" "Alladhi yuwaswisu fi suduri'n-nassi mina'l-jinnati wa'n-naas (who whispers in the hearts of men, of jinn and mankind). In this surah from the beginning to the end, all wisdom-filled Divine teachings are related to escaping from the evils of Satan, which in the preceding surah (i.e., Suratul Falaq) are certainly mentioned as allusions. For, the root of evil is one and that is Satan and hence every kind of evil, whatever it may be is due to him."

Part 5: How to remain safe and secure?

"If you want to remain safe and secure, if you cherish the protection of children, life and property and yearn to enter the refuge of the Omnipotent God, to be protected from all vices, calamities, afflictions, torments and misfortunes, then continue to recite Ma'udhatayn (i.e., Surah Falaq and Sural Naas) with great eagerness and absolute certainty. And in order to attain their special grace and blessings (of these Surahs), it is necessary to have the correct meaning, knowledge and wisdom, so that the way to their original treasure may be known. For, the original secret of the efficacy and usefulness of a surah, ayat or name is hidden in its meaning, knowledge and wisdom."

Part 6: What is the great kingdom of God?

"The kingdom which God has called "great" cannot be a worldly kingdom, rather it is the extremely great kingdom of spirituality, which God grants to the true Imam of the age. It is the same vicegerency mentioned in the Qur'an in the story of Hazrat Adam, and also about Hazrat Da'ud that he was the vicegerent of his time (38:36), and then Hazrat Sulayman became his heir (27:16). This clearly means that Hazrat Sulayman was not only the king of the spiritual kingdom, but he also held the rank of vicegerency (i.e., the holder of God's authority on earth)."

Part 7: Why is the word "Shah" used for Noor Mowlana Hazar Imam?

"You can accept that the inner and spiritual kingdom of the Imam of the time has many meanings, is like that of the kingdom of Sulayman (a.s.). But it should be remembered that the real kingdom of Hazrat Sulayman was in spirituality and whatever was in the external world, was a veil. Perhaps you realise today why the exalted Imam is called "Shah" (king). Now you must see in the mirror of the Qur'an with insight how great is the excellence, perfection, glory and meaning of that sovereign of spirituality who is the vicegerent of God, the vicegerent of the Prophet and the Imam of the time."

Part 8: What is the meaning of "Noor Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam?"

The word "Noor" means the exalted Imam is "the bearer of the Light of God"; "Mawlana" means "Our Lord"; "Shah" means "The spiritual king"; "Karim" means "The bountiful one"; "Al-Hussaini" means "the progeny of Imam Hussain (a.s.)"; and "Hazar Imam" means "Present and Living Imam". Bearing this mind, you may want the read the tawils of the above ayats with a greater insight and also recite the "Ya Ali, Pir Shah" tasbi with a greater conviction! Al-Hamdulillah!
