In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

| Yusufali: | Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he! |
| Pickthall: | The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish. |
| 111.002 | |
| Yusufali: | No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains! |
| Pickthall: | His wealth and gains will not exempt him. |
| 111.003 | |
| Yusufali: | Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame! |
| Pickthall: | He will be plunged in flaming Fire, |
| 111.004 | |
| Yusufali: | His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- |
| Pickthall: | And his wife, the wood-carrier, |
| 111.005 | |
| Yusufali: | A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! |
| Pickthall: | Will have upon her neck a halter of palm-fibre. |
Let us pray (Sura 20, Ayat 114) 'Ya Rabbi Zidni Ilma!' ('O Lord! Increase me in knowledge.') and seek spiritual help (ta'yid) to understand our great faith.
