"Can he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from which he can never come out?" — Holy Qur'an 6:122

Holy Quran Verses from Pickthall and Yusufali's Translations

Surah Humazah: The Traducer

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

104.001
Yusufali:    Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,
Pickthall:   Woe unto every slandering traducer,
104.002
Yusufali:    Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
Pickthall:   Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it.
104.003
Yusufali:    Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
Pickthall:   He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal.
104.004
Yusufali:    By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,
Pickthall:   Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One.
104.005
Yusufali:    And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces?
Pickthall:   Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is!
104.006
Yusufali:    (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) God kindled (to a blaze),
Pickthall:   (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled,
104.007
Yusufali:    The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts:
Pickthall:   Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men).
104.008
Yusufali:    It shall be made into a vault over them,
Pickthall:   Lo! it is closed in on them
104.009
Yusufali:    In columns outstretched.
Pickthall:   In outstretched columns.

Let us pray (Sura 20, Ayat 114) 'Ya Rabbi Zidni Ilma!' ('O Lord! Increase me in knowledge.') and seek spiritual help (ta'yid) to understand our great faith.
